
Hairong Basil received her Juris Doctorate degree from Emory University School of Law, where she served as an Executive Managing Editor of the Emory Corporate Governance and Accountability Review (Vol.5). She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and graduated with distinction in 2015.
Ms. Basil concentrates her practice on complex commercial litigation, with a focus on securities class actions, shareholder derivative suits, antitrust matters, and consumer fraud cases. She brings a strategic and detail-oriented approach to all phases of litigation, including case evaluation and investigation, discovery, and dispositive motion practice.
Her representative matters include In re Conduent Securities Litigation (D.N.J.), a securities class action in which investors alleged that defendants misled the market about serious and ongoing technology issues at the company. Ms. Basil’s work included extensive document review and discovery analysis in support of the class’s claims. She was also involved in shareholder derivative litigation arising from alleged corporate governance failures at major public companies, including motion practice in a derivative suit against Wells Fargo & Company and investigative work in connection with a potential action involving The Boeing Company.
In antitrust litigation, Ms. Basil is part of the team prosecuting In re Delta Dental Antitrust Litigation (N.D. Ill.), a class action alleging anti-competitive conduct by the largest providers of dental insurance in the U.S. She also represents consumers in putative class actions against Walmart Inc. and Target Corp., asserting deceptive in-store pricing practices through misleading shelf signage and price displays.
Ms. Basil has experience evaluating potential securities fraud claims under Rule 10(b)-5, including analyzing public disclosures, identifying potential misstatements or omissions, and supporting early-stage litigation strategy.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Basil was an associate at a prominent plaintiffs’ securities litigation firm, where she specialized in securities and consumer fraud litigation.
Ms. Basil is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Ms. Basil is admitted to the Bar of the State of New York.
